Hello again beautiful people. Now your child is really blossoming. They are taking casting calls and booking things left and right. You are so proud and support all they do. Then the question….”Do you have full custody?” As our blended family grew, there was never a custody question. We (My husband and I) made all the decisions….we (me and my childrens’ FATHER) were the decision makers.
These questions came up when the New Edition movie started filming. Although they have been living with you …their entire lives…custody is in question. Full Legal or Joint Legal….Know your rights as well as your obligations.
Joint Legal custody…the noncustodial parent has the right to “be in the know”. Not necessarily asking permission but acknowledgement of activities. Be sure to have it clearly stated that if the noncustodial and custodial parent does not agree, the custodial parent will have the final say.
What you do not want to happen is that contracts need to be signed ASAP and emotions, irresponsibility and or bitterness to get in the way of your child’s opportunity.
There are state and county programs that provide affordable counsel for certain legal issues. Try atlantalegalaid.org for legal assistance if you live in metro Atlanta.
Just something I thought about….Hope this helps!
